On Chorales in my Music
In the midst of innumerable tiny dots, a shadow of evenly paced harmony occasionally stirs in my music. I see it like a row of ancient dilapidated statues in an abandoned garden, their contours blurred by centuries of bramble and moss - chorales half-buried in the texture of the music, fragile, as if recalling a melody long forgotten. A human trace, a reverent upward glance, a buried hymn staking its hopeless claim within the silence of a cold, indifferent universe.
