On Chorales in my Music
In the midst of a profusion of tiny dots, a shadow of harmony might occasionally stir in my music, like a row of ancient dilapidated statues stumbled upon in an abandoned garden, their contours blurred by centuries of bramble and erosion - chorales half-buried in the texture of the music, fragile, as if recalling a melody long forgotten, a human trace, a fearful upward glance, a buried hymn staking its hopeless claim within the silence of a cold, indifferent cosmos.
